The entire town was bustling upon the Carnival's arrival. All the folk who were normally shunned by polite soceity were free to cross the bridge to the finer sector for a small toll and attend the festivities. Roach, however, was interested in keeping every penny he had. Instead, he followed the stream to a natural path of stepping stones and crossed over. Upon reaching the other side he duck behind a maple tree and peered around it's wide trunk to make sure he wasn't notice. There were no gaurds near enough to see him. He then spotted  what looked to be one of the bandwaggons partially hidden behind the courthouse. He could here the faint applauding of a crowd and traces of laughter. Heart racing he ran from his hiding place to join them.

After rounding the corner the boy's face lit up with delight. The road was lined with tents and wagons as far as the eye could see and still more were placed in the flat plane behind them.  Music seemed to emit from everywhere, loud enough to be heard, but not as loud as to make it hard to hear yourself.  In front of the grounds came the source of the crowds earlier amusement. Up top a heavily bannered wagon, far more decorated than the rest with green and yellow paint, stood possibly the most foolishly dressed man the boy had ever seen. He wore bright red gloves that clashed fiercly with his faded yellow and blue striped shirt and hose. All of which were tips with copper bells that rang at the slightest twitch. He had skin as dark as the workers at the mill but more even, and his smile was white as pearls. To top it all off  he wore a small green cap with a red feather so large as it was a mircle it did not simply drag the thing off. At the sight of him Roach began to bubble up and giggle behind his hands, in childish glee at seeing something soo rediculous. The man welcomed everybody who entered the fair with and announced the arrival of some vistors with tremendous ceremony while at the same time making an inappropriete statement about their person. The people either got red faced and puffed up over their introduction, or laughed and went there merry way.  He then would tell jokes to the crowd in front of him. Despite his garish clothing, the mans voice was realatively normal, if not a little high and masked by an accent that varied in thickness. His jokes made roach laugh even more, though he only understood a few, it was simply they way he told them that made Roach know to laugh and tthe rest of the audience was laughing with him.
